According to news on March 11, today, STO Express officially announced that Alibaba will invest 4.66 billion in STO Holdings. As one of China's leading express logistics companies, STO Express, founded in 1993, decided to join hands with China's largest e-commerce platform to achieve a powerful alliance.

In response to this investment, Alibaba expressed its hope that through the joint efforts of all parties, logistics costs will be reduced from the current 16% of GDP to 5%.

This is not the first time Alibaba has invested in an express delivery company. In May 2015, Alibaba and its Yunfeng Fund invested in YTO Express. Currently, Alibaba holds nearly 17% of YTO Express, making it its second largest shareholder. In May 2018, Alibaba invested US$1.38 billion in ZTO Express. Currently, Alibaba holds approximately 8.43% of ZTO Express, making it its third largest shareholder; Alibaba has also invested in Best Express, and currently Alibaba holds 27.79% of Best Group’s shares, ranking it as its largest shareholder.

With Alibaba’s investment in STO this time, the current fact is that the three major express delivery companies, ZTO, YTO, and STO, have been acquired by Jack Ma, and have all been integrated into Alibaba’s Cainiao Network to achieve “integration.”

Now only Yunda is left. Based on the business relationship between Santong and Yida and Ali, about 80% of the business of Santong and Yida is provided by Ali’s e-commerce system, which shows that it is not impossible for Ali to occupy a stake in Yunda. So when will Yunda enter the Ali system? I believe it is only a matter of time before we have a "happy reunion" with three connections and one extension.

It is worth mentioning that many netizens also expressed their opinions after learning about Alibaba's investment in STO. Many netizens said that Alibaba's layout is really big. After absorbing many express delivery companies, it also puts a certain amount of pressure on SF Express and JD.com. What do you think about this?
