Not long ago, the American workplace community Glassdoor released a survey report, which listed companies with the most blockchain recruitment positions.
You must have never imagined that IBM has the most job openings in the blockchain field. IBM publishes blockchain-related job postings on Glassdoor every week.
In addition, according to data collected from Glassdoor by the Hard Fork channel of the world-renowned technology website The Next Web, the country with the most blockchain job opportunities is the United States, with IBM alone having close to 110 positions.
IBM has been making frequent moves in the blockchain field recently, and relevant recruitment information is announced every week. Especially after the new patented "security incident tracking system" powered by blockchain is launched. At the IBM Think 2019 conference in February, IBM cooperated with Hyundai Business, a subsidiary of Hyundai Motor in the financial services field, to leverage blockchain to improve user experience.
In early February, IBM also announced that it would introduce the blockchain platform to the Melbourne data center. Users can run applications on IBM's cloud and comply with relevant data sovereignty requirements.
It can be said that no company can rival IBM in terms of blockchain job recruitment.
Three of the Big Four accounting firms are also among the top ten for blockchain recruitment on Glassdoor. Ernst & Young has 60 blockchain-related recruitment positions, while Deloitte and PwC each have 40 positions.
Top ten blockchain recruitment positions: IBM, EY, Oracle, Foris, Accenture, CyberCoders, Deloitte, PwC, Crypto.com, Wirex
Isn’t the company at the top of the ranking surprising? Companies like ConsenSys actually hired 30 blockchain-related positions. You know, they just laid off 13% of their employees at the end of last year. Is this the rhythm of blockchain’s recovery from the cold winter?
Another company that stands out is Collins Aerospace, which is headquartered in Iowa and provides defense-related technology to government agencies and aircraft manufacturing companies.
According to statistics from Hard Fork, the company offers 20 blockchain-related positions. The news of recruiting talents in the blockchain field was issued last month. At the same time, it is also recruiting talents in the fields of Internet of Things, big data and artificial intelligence, which indicates that the company is generally interested in emerging technology fields.
In addition, there are some companies in the non-technical field on the list, such as TalentPoint and Plexus, which are not recruiting blockchain developers directly.
Other companies on the list either provide software solutions or are directly practitioners in the virtual economy or blockchain industry.
Facebook has opened almost 20 blockchain positions, which is slightly less than the number of blockchain positions listed on the company’s recruitment website.
On Facebook’s recruitment page, the top blockchain positions are: Product Manager, Financial Analyst, Community/Media/Web Position Manager, Business Operations Manager, Product Growth Manager, Data Engineer, Software Engineer, etc.
LAToken, a virtual currency trading platform, is recruiting for 30 positions. Digital payments company Ripple, CryptoKitties developer Axiom Zen and Southeast Asian payment platform Omise each have about 20 positions recruiting.
In fact, the data samples collected cannot represent the whole picture of the blockchain industry. As Hard Fork author Matthew Beedham pointed out, Glassdoor is headquartered in the United States and its users are mostly concentrated in English-speaking countries, so the above data must have some bias.
Data from the website shows that there are 2,616 blockchain positions open in the United States, 1,056 in the United Kingdom, and 243 in Canada. The United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada are the top three countries on the recruitment list. Nonetheless, we still have to note that other countries are also very active in recruiting blockchain-related positions.
For example, the "Washington Post" once pointed out: China's development in the field of blockchain has far surpassed that of the United States, and the Chinese government is working hard to research blockchain technology. CCTV also broadcast a one-hour special report in June last year to spread the value of blockchain.
Although the Chinese government cannot post job openings on Glassdoor, like IBM, China is proud of its progress in blockchain technology.
